Hi & thanks for visiting my website! I’m an author and illustrator of children’s and young adult books. So far, I have had six books published, one of which (The Silver Chain) was longlisted for the Carnegie medal and the UKLA prize. I am currently working on my seventh and eighth books. Other than writing and drawing, I love reading, playing the violin/piano, learning languages, travelling, running, zumba, yoga and…getting messages from my readers!
I grew up in Brighton and now live in Paris with my family. I’m a self-taught illustrator and studied English literature at Oxford University. One of my very first jobs was being an intern to Caroline Lucas in the European Parliament and it was brilliant. Working on green issues definitely influenced my first book, Lily & The Polar Bears. After I moved to Paris, I taught English to students at Sciences Po and ENSAE universities before opening my own language school, Anglofun. In my spare time, I would go to brilliant writing workshops run by Arvon and SCWBI and work hard at my portfolio and writing style. Eventually I got an agent and my first book was published in 2018.
I mainly spend my time drawing and writing in my garden studio but I come to the UK often for school visits. If you would like to book me, please email [email protected] (please note, I do not charge for travel to the UK!) For anything else, please contact my agent, Emily Talbot [email protected]
I am proud to be an Empathy Lab trained author. Empathy Lab are a fantastic organisation who train authors, teachers and librarians across the UK on how to help children develop their empathy skills. Reading is a brilliant way to help children (and adults!) understand other people’s thoughts and feelings and in doing so, better understand their own. This Empathy Day, you can do lots of things to celebrate this important human quality and to get going on your empathy journey. To find out more, check out the Empathy Lab resources here
